The plan most back yards start from: a lawn, a patio big enough for a table off the back door, and a planted bed along the far fence so there is something to look at from the house. The bed runs the full width because a bed that stops short leaves a strip of lawn behind it that is awkward to mow.
The lawn is drawn as sod over four inches of topsoil, which is how it is built rather than just what shows, and both are priced. The patio is pavers on a gravel base for the same reason. Swap either for the cheaper version in the planner and the total moves straight away.
