A kitchen garden laid out the way one gets used: six raised beds in two rows with paths wide enough for a wheelbarrow, drip line run to each row, and a fence round the plot to keep the rabbits and the dog out of it. The paths are wood-chip mulch over the ground, which is the cheapest surface that stays out of the mud.
The beds are placed as items, so each one is a line in the total, and the fence is priced by the foot with a gate on the house side. A compost patch sits outside the fence in the corner, close enough to the beds to be used.
